Hairstylist Chilli Coutre

Tom

Art Director/Salon Manager

Tom Jarvis’ illustrious career as a hairdresser of extraordinary talent began when he was just 15 years old. Beginning as a junior at renowned salon, Toni & Guy, he trained under some of Perth’s most experienced and accomplished hairdressers, going on to assist with several memorable collection launches between 2006 and 2009.

Tom first focused on honing his skills as head colourist for a boutique salon in South Perth (2009) and then as a senior stylist at Head Office Hair & Body (2010), before landing a plumb role at Chilli Couture in 2012. Here, it wasn’t long before he climbed the ranks, eventually taking over the salon’s management and creative direction in 2021.

A curly hair cutting specialist and certified Kevin Murphy session master, Tom has been the creative force behind multiple Chilli Couture photographic collections – several of which were entered into the Australian Hair and Fashion Awards. You’ll also find Tom as a regular fixture at Perth’s high-profile fashion industry events where he’s called upon to work his amazing magic for major labels such as Flannel, One Fell Swoop and Zhivago.

Other career highlights for Tom include:

  • Assistant for Australian Hair and Fashion Awards WA Hairdresser of the Year Finalist, Rachel Walker (2013, 2015)
  • Working backstage for Style Aid Perth (2013-2016)
  • Assisted on Natulique colour campaign (2019)
  • Assistant for Australian Hair and Fashion Awards WA Hairdresser of the Year Finalist, Nakia Stevens (2019)
  • Presenting for Intercoiffure – curly hair cutting (2021)
  • Key stylist for Perth-based label, Zhivago (2023)
  • AHFA WA/NT Hairdresser of the Year Finalist (2024)
  • AHFA Artistic Team of the Year Finalist (2023, 2024)

Tom has no intention of slowing down and continues to attract attention across the industry.
So much so that he was recently selected to join Haircare Group’s H-Team, where he is now a senior educator for Evo Hair. The H-Team is a hand-picked group of Australian hair stylists who meet each year in Adelaide for five full-on days of education about all thing’s hair. Upon their return, participants share their learnings with other hairdressers in their home city.
