Artistic Director
With a wealth of experience including styling hair at numerous fashion shows in London, Paris, Milan and New York, working with celebrity models, and more, Michael is a specialist cutter and style designer in both men’s and ladies cutting-working exclusively with the scissors.
Michael originally trained in Glasgow then moved to London to further his career working at several top salons. Michael worked with ‘session’ hairdresser Sam McKnight and combined this with salon work. Subsequently headhunted by award winning hairdresser Trevor Sorbie, Michael honed his cutting skills and eventually was introduced to world renowned session hairdresser Eugene Souliman.
Michael worked through the ranks and became a key player on Eugene’s prestigious show team for over 8 years, whilst working at Smith’s salon where he had an extensive loyal clientele. Styling hair at numerous catwalks shows in London, Paris, Milan and New York including Alexander McQueen, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Yohji Yamamoto, Vivienne Westwood, DKNY, Victoria Secrets and Vogue VH1 Awards.
Michael also worked with many celebrity models including Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, Erin O’Connor, Claudia Scheiffer, Natalia Vodianova and Anouck Lepere on the Hugo fragrance campaign as well as UK celebrities and members of the UK Royal Family.
In addition, he also worked in many areas of the media including prime time TV makeover shows, glossy magazines, advertising campaigns, trade journals and national newspapers.
10 years ago, Michael emigrated to Perth, WA on a permanent visa and finally joined the Chilli team! He works with the Chilli team of colourists to design the perfect colour to complement his exceptional cuts. If you are lucky enough to score an appointment with Michael, get ready to be blown away!
